To create a safe place where seniors can participate in activities designed specifically to enrich their daily lives. To provide a Supportive Day Program that endeavors to focus on individual participants' capabilities, experience, interests and personality so that his or her potential is fully maximized.
The Orleans Mass. Day Center Program is a unique high-level program for seniors who are short-term memory challenged and/or who wish to join a supportive day program. The program provides needed respite for caregivers. Medical professionals recognize that caregivers experience high levels of stress in their role. Having a safe & supportive environment for their loved ones, caregivers are able to schedule time off so they can attend to the many details of life that have now become their responsibility. The program provides physical and mental stimulation as well as socialization for the participants. There is a staff ratio of one staff to six participants (State guidelines require a ratio of one stall to eight participants). The Day Center program, started in 1998, is approaching its 10th year of successful operation. Nearly 300 different participants have benefited from the engaging activities thus avoiding institutional care for three to five years. Pre-registration is required for attendance.
