ABOUT THE ORLEANS MASS. SENIOR DAY CENTER

 

Assessments
To ensure the greatest benefit to our participants, evaluations, completed during the first month of attendance, determine a base line of ability levels. Repeated every six months, these evaluations provide a valuable tool during family review meetings which are held each year.

Daily Schedule

MEET & GREET
Participants enjoy juice and healthy snacks on their arrival.

GROUP ACTIVITIES
Crossword Puzzles, Current Events and Word Games stimulate the mind and provide interactive activity.

MORNING ACTIVITIES
Keep Movin' Keep Goin' is a daily chair exercise class led by Orleans Senior Center Fitness Instructors.

AFTERNOON ACTIVITIES
Lunch in dining room then many varied programs including Cooking and Crafts, Indoor Golf, Mini Bowling, Shuffleboard, Trips to local sites, Music, including The Day Center Bell Choir, Travel log and Educational films, Companion Animal Visits, Intergenerational Programs, Professional Instruction in Art.


Participant Eligibility
Be continent.
Be able and willing to follow instructions and directions.
Be able to participate in activities.
Be able to function in a social, ambulating setting.
Be non-combative, no threat to others or to themselves.
Be capable of performing activities of daily living with limited aid.
Be able to administer own medications and personal care.

Transportation
Transportation is provided to and from participants' home with lift-equipped vans from their local Cape Cod COA's (Brewster and Chatham) or Orleans COA (Eastham and Orleans). The b-Bus provides transportation for residents of Dennis, Harwich or Wellfleet.

Program Fees (includes meals, transportation and events)
For Orleans residents: $40/full day or $30/half day
For out of town residents $55/full and or $40/half day.

Financial Assistance
Financial Assistance, on a sliding fee, is available for financially eligible through
Elder Services of Cape Cod & Islands. Orleans residents may also qualify for local assistance.
Alzheimer's Services of Cape Cod and the Islands provides annual scholarships for attendance.
Financial problems should never prevent one from attending the program.

Trial Day
A half-day FREE trial is available to all new participants.
Transportation by family, both ways, is required for this day.

Schedule
The Day Center is open Monday-Friday 8:30am-3:00pm. Tuesdays are reserved for Men only. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are available for Men and Women.
